Poltrona Frau In Motion is rooted in a long tradition of excellence. Its story begins with a company renowned for the exceptional quality and distinctive design of its furniture, bringing the same expertise, sensitivity, and philosophy of living into automotive, aviation, and nautical interiors.

At the heart of Poltrona Frau is a culture of design and craftsmanship with few equals in the world. This culture is deeply connected to the company’s identity and to Tolentino, the place where Poltrona Frau developed and where its headquarters remain today: a territory with a distinctive manufacturing heritage, long associated with excellence in leather craftsmanship.
Drawing on this long-standing tradition, Poltrona Frau In Motion continues to extend its expertise, explore new materials and technologies, and turn increasingly complex challenges into opportunities for innovation. With the confidence that comes from solid foundations, the company continues to move further, aim higher, and bring its vision of excellence into every dimension of mobility.

Our values

These values are shared across every part of Poltrona Frau and are reflected in a corporate philosophy built on respect, consistency, and authenticity.

Respect is expressed first in the way we care for the people who work with us and for us, for the environment around us, and for the communities connected to our territory. Consistency means staying true to our history and to a vision of design that goes beyond the beauty of an object, becoming a way to preserve memory, culture, and shared meaning. Authenticity shapes our relationships and our way of doing business: remaining faithful to who we are, without following trends or pursuing visions that do not reflect our identity.

Our commitment is to improve, as much as we can, the world we live in. We do this through creations that make life more beautiful, more enjoyable, and richer in meaning. For us, this is the essence of luxury.

Poltrona Frau

Poltrona Frau has been a leader in high-end furnishings since 1912, evolving into a global brand with three distinct business units dedicated to developing distinctive design solutions across residential, mobility, and custom interiors. Its headquarters and core operations are based in Tolentino, in the Marche region of Italy. The company was founded in 1912, when entrepreneur Renzo Frau registered the brand with the Turin Chamber of Commerce. After a series of generational transitions, the Nazareno Gabrielli Group acquired the company in 1962. One year later, Poltrona Frau moved to Tolentino, in the Marche region, where the Group headquarters and the Poltrona Frau Museum are still located today. In 2004, together with Cassina and Cappellini, the company became Poltrona Frau Group. In 2014, the Haworth family acquired the Group, which became Haworth Lifestyle in 2025.

Alongside Poltrona Frau In Motion, the Residential Living Business Unit creates exclusive furniture, accessories, and complements for interiors, outdoor spaces, and offices. Over the years, Poltrona Frau has created iconic pieces that embody timeless elegance, combining universal appeal with a deeply personal character: the Chester sofa and Vanity Fair armchair, designed by founder Renzo Frau; the Dezza by Gio Ponti; the Titano by Pierluigi Cerri, which earned the brand its first Compasso d’Oro ADI for industrial design; and many others.

Today, Poltrona Frau collaborates with some of the most important international designers, including GamFratesi, Sebastian Herkner, Roberto Lazzeroni, Jean-Marie Massaud, Neri&Hu, Ludovica Serafini + Roberto Palomba, and Faye Toogood. The Custom Interiors Business Unit specializes in the design and creation of bespoke solutions for auditoriums, theatres, airports, public spaces, offices, showrooms, hotels, and yachts, working closely with leading international architecture and design studios. With more than 5,000 projects completed worldwide, Poltrona Frau has been chosen by 12 Pritzker Prize-winning architects, including Renzo Piano, Foster + Partners, Frank O. Gehry, Jean Nouvel, Zaha Hadid Studio, and David Chipperfield, to help shape unique projects that redefine contemporary spaces.
