From the selection of materials to the management of processes, every choice helps build a more responsible production system. This is why we see sustainability as a value to be applied across every aspect of our work.
Every day, we are committed in different ways to improving our environmental footprint, following the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) to track our progress in a transparent and verifiable way.
Environment
100% of the electricity used by Poltrona Frau In Motion in its production facilities comes from renewable sources. The goal is to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
In 2025, 99% of the waste generated was diverted from disposal, compared with 53% in 2024. Of this amount, 96% consisted of non-hazardous waste.
Waste sent for disposal decreased by 97%, from 127,490 kg to just 3,616 kg.
Promoting climate responsibility requires dedicated commitment and constant collaboration, both within our facilities and across our network of external suppliers.
We place great emphasis on the circular economy through product analysis and the assessment of the carbon footprint generated throughout their life cycle.
At the same time, we work to improve procurement, production and logistics processes, with the aim of increasing efficiency and minimising long-term environmental impact. We are committed to achieving the Haworth Group’s decarbonisation targets, in line with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)*, and we work to decarbonise the supply chain by engaging with our suppliers.
* The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a non-profit organization founded on the collaboration between the Carbon Disclosure Project, the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute, and the Worldwide Fund for Nature. It provides companies with a defined pathway to reduce emissions.
People
Our commitment to the environment begins with the workplace. Our people are our most valuable asset, which is why we are dedicated to creating stable, safe and engaging working conditions.
Across our facilities, 550 people are employed, 40% of whom are women. 92% of employees have permanent contracts. Training plays a crucial role, as does compliance with safety standards: thanks to these two factors, no accidents occurred in our facilities in 2025. At the Tolentino site, anti-fatigue mats and workstations with height-adjustable tables have been introduced, adaptable to both the operator and the component being worked on.
We foster a culture of active participation through initiatives designed to strengthen engagement, internal communication and wellbeing. Professional development is supported through dedicated training programmes and managerial growth opportunities.
The “Idea Box” enables everyone to contribute to improvement. Every year, we organise the “Atelier dei Saperi”, an advanced training programme created to enhance artisanal expertise and pass it on to younger generations, supporting their entry into the world of work. Our employee welfare programme includes access to mental health services and promotes various social activities, including through sport.
Materials and packaging
Our idea of sustainability begins with the quality and durability of our products: we work to create beautiful objects designed to endure over time.
We are committed to minimising production waste, reusing or reselling it within a circular economy approach. At the same time, we invest significantly in research and innovation to develop increasingly sustainable materials, such as Pelle Frau® Pure Nappa Chrome-free leather.
We work closely with tanneries to develop leathers with a lower environmental impact. When evaluating and selecting new materials, we also take their carbon footprint into account.
We also promote the use of natural fiber materials for structural components, in order to reduce the use of polyurethane and plastic, thereby contributing to a lower environmental footprint for our products.
Packaging has also become increasingly recyclable over the years: in 2025, 100% of total packaging expenditure was allocated to renewable, recyclable or compostable materials.
The returnable packaging program has been promoted among clients and suppliers to gradually eliminate wooden pallets and bubble-wrap protection for individual components, through the adoption of materials that, over the long term, help reduce environmental impact.
