From luxury cars to limited-edition and bespoke models, exclusive interiors and upholstery designed to meet the highest standards.

Poltrona Frau In Motion was born in 1985 as Frau Car. Its first project was already linked to an automotive icon: the Lancia Thema 8.32, powered by a Ferrari engine, for which the company developed 39 components.
Since then, In Motion has partnered with some of the world’s most exclusive automotive brands, combining industrial production with restoration, bespoke interior customization, and consulting services for companies such as Bugatti, Lucid Motors, and Pagani.
Today, the automotive sector represents 95% of Poltrona Frau In Motion’s turnover: a significant figure that reflects the expertise, credibility and reputation the company has established over the years in an exceptionally demanding and competitive industry.
In this sector, the ability to create value matters more than volume. The clients and companies we work with are not seeking a mere supplier, but a true partner: one capable of translating the luxury of residential interiors into the automotive world and supporting them at every stage of a project.
Our added value lies in our ability to develop leather in the desired colour, design the ideal texture, create the most effective substrates, define the best production process within budget, and ensure volumes and delivery dates. This was further confirmed by the recognition received in 2025, when Ferrari selected us from among more than 300 suppliers to receive the Focus Award for Outstanding Technological Innovation at Podio Ferrari. This award highlights our commitment to supporting the continuous evolution of the Ferrari brand and inspires us to keep pursuing increasingly ambitious challenges.

What we do

Leather and upholstery
For over a century, Pelle Frau® has been the company’s signature material: a natural leather of exceptional strength and softness, created in close collaboration with suppliers and interpreted in countless forms, textures, weights and colours. It continues to evolve through new variants that deliver increasingly high levels of performance, with growing attention to durability, resource efficiency and environmental impact.
Seats
Across our four production sites, we manage the entire seat upholstery development process, from the first design sketch to the selection of leather, textures, and cutting solutions designed to minimize waste.
Our role extends well beyond guidance on colours and finishes. Working in close co-design with each client, we develop the construction and stitching systems for the seat covers, creating solutions that elevate both aesthetics and comfort — delivering a level of tactile and perceived quality that goes far beyond a conventional automotive or aircraft seat.
We are constantly developing new models, customised with woven details, micro-textures, embroidery, contrast stitching and laser engraving.
Each cover combines artisanal mastery with industrial precision, ensuring the same quality of execution even across large volumes. A dedicated team also manages special orders, such as limited editions and supercars.
Dashboards and cockpits
One of the most technological and complex sectors, where design must respond to numerous technical constraints. Covering a dashboard or instrument panel is a delicate, and highly intricate process, as it must take into account onboard instrumentation, climate control and infotainment systems, airbags and other safety features. Thanks to our experience, we are able to interpret the needs of the client’s design department and align them with the engineering aspects of the project.
Every year, we produce 18,566 dashboards engineered to meet the most demanding technical requirements. Each component is designed to support airbag performance and safety, while also ensuring compliance with strict standards on chemical emissions, thermal behavior, and UV resistance.
Door panel coverings, woodwork, and interior trim
The interior trim of a vehicle must reflect all the luxury and warmth of the hand craftsmanship, while at the same time integrating a strong technical component: it must interact with safety systems, withstand wear over the years, and reduce noise and vibrations even at high speeds.
For each of the 14,538 interior panels we produce every year, we develop ad hoc solutions, combining different materials to achieve the best balance between technical performance and stylistic impact.
Headliners
Headliners have long been one of the most complex components in luxury automotive interiors. Their scale and complexity require specialized machinery, expert hands, and a deep understanding of materials and construction.
Each year, Poltrona Frau In Motion produces 18,000 headliners, delivering solutions where elegance, precision, and performance come together.

Limited and bespoke editions
Each year, Poltrona Frau In Motion contributes to around 600 limited-edition and bespoke cars, fully personalized with exclusive materials, textures, and options.
A dedicated prototyping and modelling team develops unique projects beyond the scope of industrial-scale production, responding to special client requests for distinctive design solutions, technologies, and accessories.
The limited-edition Pagani Utopia is the most recent expression of our ability to transform an exclusive vision into a fully realized project.
Accessories
Every detail is part of the journey. We enhance the onboard experience through bespoke accessories designed to complement each project.
Depending on the type of car, aircraft or yacht, we can create made-to-measure sets of travel bags or luggage, either in the colours chosen by the client or coordinated with the interiors.

Who we work with

Our relationships with clients are built over time, grounded in trust, discretion, and long-standing collaboration. This is why we do not publish a detailed client list. However, we are proud to have worked with the leading names in Europe’s luxury automotive industry, and to continue growing alongside many of them.

The recent acquisition of KJ Ryan in the United Kingdom has further expanded our reach, strengthening our presence in the UK market and bringing us closer to some of the leading players in the luxury automotive sector. It also enables us to provide more local, responsive and sustainable production and supply solutions. All our travelling companions choose us for the same reason: we are able to understand exactly where they want to go and help them find the best way to get there.
